School and Group Trips to Farmer Ted’s

Farmer Ted’s is a family run business, with the aim of combining farming fun and education so children can enjoy learning about animals, habitats and food production within a safe environment. We cover all topics within the national curriculum.

Visiting schools will be charged per child. Supervision is based on a 1:5 ratio for reception children, 1:6, for key stage one, 1:10 for key stage two. When this ratio is exceeded, we then charge £4/hd for the extra adults.

About your school trip

Your time at Farmer Ted’s will be an educational experience; please make sure all your group supervisors understand that it is a fully timetabled day, and although there will be play times this is not a recreational visit.

We provide a fully scheduled day on the farm, with the first activity starting at 10:30am finishing after the milking demonstration at approximately 2.30pm.

Will we get a guided tour?

Yes! Our Park Rangers will be available to escort your educational visit group throughout the day.

Visit the Animals

We have many animals to see, including pigs, goats, sheep, cows, ponies, horses, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and even llamas.

Mini-Beast Experience

Farmer Ted’s also includes our Mini-Beasts which are an exotic collection of snakes, cockroaches, tarantulas, frogs and many more species. The Mini-Beast adventure is available to visit within the playtime, but can also be tailored into your trip by prior arrangement so the children get to meet and touch and in some cases hold the creepy crawlies.

Tractor rides

The tractor ride takes you around the fields to see the various bigger animals and their habitats.

Please note that the indoor soft-play centre will not be available for the children to use on the day, although the outside adventure play areas will be and a 30-minute slot will be assigned for your group to use the indoor play area.

Do you have rooms for lunch?

Yes, we do! Visiting schools and groups are assigned a room as a base, to keep packed lunches, coats, etc. There is no extra cost for this service, but we do ask that it is left as it was found, clean and ready for use. On busy days, large rooms may be split with a partition.

Do you offer recreational visits?

Yes, we do! Recreational visits provide your group with full access to the entire farm park for the day, and a room will be provided for lunch.

Your group leaders will receive a timetable on arrival, with an allocated tractor ride and a 30-minute slot for the indoor play area. There will be a full range of activities on the day, with the chance to groom a pony, meet the ferrets, watch the milking demonstration and meet all the animals in the barn. The Mini-Beast Adventure opens daily at 10 am.

For all our trips, whether educational or recreational, please check availability either by telephone or email. We require a non-refundable booking deposit of £50.00 to secure and confirm your chosen date.
The outstanding balance must be paid in full on the day or prior to arrival.

How much will it cost?

Your School Trip to Farmer Ted’s will cost £6-50 per child.

To avoid queuing and losing time within our souvenir shop, we now have a pre-packed souvenir bag service. This is an optional extra, and the school can still use our Farmer Ted’s shop if their group leaders prefer.
