My name is Hettie, and I’ve recently arrived at Farmer Ted’s Adventure Farm. My first week here has been very exciting, and it’s been great to meet lots of new friends who came to the farm during the half-term holiday.
Farmer Ted thought it would be nice if I told you a little about myself and what my first few days have been like down here on the farm.
As you can probably tell from my photograph, I’m a horse! I’m eight years old, I was born in Yorkshire, and I’m a Clydesdale. I know that may seem like a strange name for a type of horse, but originally my ancestors came from Clydesdale, in Scotland. Clydesdale horses are powerful; we are famous for helping farmers to pull heavy loads and often are used to draw carriages. It’s not all work though; many Clydesdale horses are also show horses. In fact, my grandad was a very famous horse who won Supreme Champion, and a prize called the ‘The Cawdor Cup’ at an Agricultural show in Glasgow, Scotland. This is such a special prize that having won my grandad wasn’t allowed to enter the competition ever again!
My first week here at Farmer Ted’s has been very exciting! I have to be honest and say that I was a bit nervous at first. Moving to a new place can seem a little strange, but as soon as I arrived, Farmer Ted introduced me to Memo, another horse who is a Welsh Section C. She has been here at Farmer Ted’s for a few years and has not only made me feel very welcome but has also introduced me to lots of the other animals including, Ermintrude the Cow and a funny looking creature who has horns and likes to sit the near the top of the barn ceiling. Memo told me that his name is Casper he’s a goat and sometimes goats live at the top of mountains.
On my first night here at Ted’s, I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep, and I kept hearing chirping noises, which at first sounded very strange. Memo explained that this was just the guinea pigs and that I didn’t need to worry.
That’s all for now, but I promise I’ll keep you posted on how I am settling in and share any funny stories from my adventures here at Farmer Ted’s.
